Drugstore Wishlist

My wishlist changes from week to week usually but here are a few items which have stayed constant. All these items can be picked up from your local drugstore or even supermarket.
I like to wait until Boots or Superdrug have a good offer on (usually 3 for 2) before purchasing any drugstore products. Here is what I am currently lusting after:

Revlon Matte Lip Balm Crayon - Elusive
These have had a lot of hype since release but I do want to try them out for myself. I keep looking at online swatches of this and I can't work out if it a everyday matte nude pink or something much darker and deeper. I really should go look in store but at 9 months pregnant I have become a recluse. This colour seems to be the one that catches my eye the most out of the mattes.

Revlon Lacquer Lip Balm Crayon - Demure
These lacquer balms where released at the same time as the mattes mentioned above. They don't have the same hype around them and they don't have as many positive reviews about them but my does this look pretty. This colour looks like a nude glittery pink gloss which usually isn't my thing but for some reason I really want this bad. I don't have anything like it in my collection so I really want to try it. I also want to try the colour Tease but I feel like I would use this neutral colour more.

Bourjois CC Cream
This looks like the perfect face base for summer to tone down any facial redness and to give you that more done look than going bare. I don't know why I haven't tried this yet. It looks to be the perfect solution for when you don't want to wear foundation which I hardly ever do.

Vaseline Spray and Go Moisturiser
As I mentioned before I'm currently 9 months pregnant, this makes the smallest tasks harder. Such as reaching down to put on shoes which is now impossible hello flip flops. Anyway anything that can make my life easier works for me so a spray on moisturiser sounds right up my street.

Have you tried any of these items and what do you think? Do they live up to the hype?

Shopping my stash

So it's that time of the month again where my wages have run out and payday seems like so far away, the only thing to do right now is to put my wish list's to one side and to shop my stash.

Here are some products that I've owned a while that i may have forgotten about or that I fell out of love with it for some reason. Today I have rooted through my products and rediscovered some gems. Here are my finds:

Burt's Bees Hand Salve
I love this brand of products and I disregarded this hand salve early on as it is abit too greasy for my liking. If you can get over than though it is a great little hand moisturiser and this is a little travel size version which is handy for handbags.

Nuxe Micellar Cleansing Water
I didn't use this when I first got it as I've had the L'Oréal and Bioderma ones on the go but this is so delicate and feminine. This one is made with rose petals and it smells gorgeous. It reminds me of summer. Also it works really well at removing my make up so i can't wait to get more use out of this.

Bourjois Cream Blush 02
Is it me or do these cream blushes not feel like a cream at all? Mine feel more like a powder but anyway I still love them. I have shades 01 and 02 and they are so pretty but I feel like I do need to build them up quite a bit with my stipple brush to get a decent amount of colour.

Benefit Peek a Bright Eye's Kit
This is my go to kit on a lazy day as it gives a nice polished eye look. I really should use this more as the shadows are lovely and pigmented and give a gorgeous overall eye look.

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick 15 Corail Intuitive
These lipsticks are still my favourite ever but I've been using my 14 Corail in Touch more as it is a deeper coral colour. This one is perfect for everyday wear as it just gives that my lips but better appearance. They smell so fruity and delicious and feel so luxurious on the lips. I really want more shades in these but for now I need to use these more to justify the price that I paid for them.

Bourjois Colour Boost Lipstick Peach on the Beach
I'm not too keen on the smell of this as it seems abit plastic-y and I'm disappointed that all the writing on my Bourjois packaging rubs off after a few months adding to the cheap feel. I do like the colour of this though as it's nice and pink on the lips but it isn't too drastic for day wear. 

Benefit Coralista Lipgloss 

This smells really good and gives a nice subtle colour and shine. It lasts for decent amount of time and most importantly it isn't sticky. There's nothing worse than walking outside for a gust of wind to blow your nicely clean styled hair into your lipgloss leaving it a gloopy sticky mess.

Benefit Bad Gal Waterproof Liner
I'm usually more of a liquid liner gal but if I fancy abit of kohl then I always use this. This has a handy smudger on the end to help smoke it out for a sexy eye look. Unlike most kohl liners this is waterproof so no under eye mess. That is reason I stopped using kohl in the first place as my eyes can be sensitive and water in the wind etc and that would leave me with smudged eyeliner all smudged into my concealer under my eye but with this being waterproof it means I don't look like a panda by dinner time.

Lancome Travel Size Lipstick Nu Rose 06
This is a cute little lipstick that is perfect for Autumn due to its berry like colour. But for us pal gals it doesn't look to dark as dark berry lipsticks scare me a little. This helps you go for the berry trend but in a good way. It also smells gorgeous and is long lasting. Due to it being a popular one you can pick up this travel size version for cheap too to test the waters.

Make up swatches from left to right are - Benefit eyebright, Bourjois blusher, Benefits Peek a Bright Eye's base, pearly pink shadow and then the brown contour shadow.

Car boot haul by a crazy cat lady x

So this morning my mum dragged me to a car boot at 8.30am on a Sunday morning. I did question whether I was crazy going at that time but my mum insisted that we go early to "catch the bargains". This was my first time at a car boot in years and I did really enjoy myself.
Here is what I got:

* Russian Dolls - £1
* Russian doll umbrella - 50p
* Cat ornaments - 50p each
* Cat picture - 50p
* Marian Keyes books - 20p each
* Narnia book set - £1
* Lipsy dress - £4 not pictured
* M&S bra - 40p not pictured
* Atmosphere blouse - 50p not pictured, the clothes are in the washing machine so I didn't take pics of these.

I can't explain how long I have been after a set of Russian dolls all that I can say is that it's been over a decade. When I was a little girl the second hand shops where full of these things but now I can't find them anywhere apart from cheaper ones on ebay. Anyway my mum was right about getting the early bargains as this was my first and overall favourite buy of the day. I literally squealed with delight when I saw these and I couldn't believe my luck when she said they were only £1. It also looks complete as it is a set of 5. The lady on the stall told me that her son who lives in India brought them back as a gift for her so it's nice to know abit of history about them.

My next favourite item that I bought was the little wooden cat ornament that is curled up sleeping, it's just so cute and it has taken pride of place on my bookshelf.

I'm glad that I picked up some Marian Keyes book as her style is similar to Belinda Jones who I adore so I will look forward to reading these.

As you may know I am cat obsessed as I have 2 myself. Wolverine (black/white) and Rogue (white/black) yes we do like X-Men, and I was so happy to find a fellow crazy cat lady who I bought all my cat items off. I was stood there in my cat peplum top that I have with a cat tote bag over my shoulder so there was no missing my cat obsession, I believe this helped me get a good price for my cat items as the black ornament was originally £1. My husband loves cats too so when I came home with my cat picture and put it straight up on the wall he didn't bat a eyelid.

Overall I had a great time and I'm happy with what I got. I will look forward to going again to see what I can get. Next up I want a nice big teapot so let the bargain hunting begin.

Bourjois Effect 3D lipgloss that I won from Orangina

When I'm at work I drink a lot of this stuff. Drinking fizzy drinks is probably my worst vice.
Anyway a couple of weeks ago I was pleasantly surprised to find that they have now started a competition where you can win a Bourjois Effect 3D lipgloss Yay! What a great combination is that!.
I had seen the lipgloss advertised in my regular magazines and in my local Superdrug and I knew it was a new release so every day I would peel off my bottle label and wishfully type in the code. I even got some of my colleagues in on it, luckily for me i work in a BMX/Skateboarding shop so it's male dominated and they aren't interested in wining a lipgloss, so I managed to nab a few extra codes and I finally won Yay! I would estimate that I have typed in about 10-15 codes to win this one.
When you do win it brings up a window and asks you to list the 3 lip gloss choices in the order that you would most like to receive. Luckily for me i got my first choice of Rouge Democratic which is a bright red. I have a lot of pale pink and coral lip glosses so I wanted a bright red one anyway and I am thrilled with this.

It aims to leave your lips hydrated and shiny for 8 hours. A plus for a lot of people is that it is paraben free too.
I felt this gloss to be quite thick but it gives a amazing result. I love the packaging and how the wand is clear. It feels great quality and even though it didn't last 8 hours for me as I had been drinking I felt that it's a good gloss to have in my collection. Especially because it was free. These retail at £7.99.
Once I'd won and chose what I wanted the shipping was free and it arrived to me about a week later.

The ideal bronzer for pale skin - The Body Shop honey matte bronzer

So this summer I decided to try out bronzer for the first time but I was abit daunted by them all due to having quite pale skin. I have a sample of Benefits Dallas in my Powda Wowza palette but it's far too dark for me, so I've kind of been put of bronzer and I've not known how to use them until now.

My bronzer of choice is The Body Shop Honey matte bronzing powder. The fact that this is a matte bronzer really got my attention as all the ones I've seen in shops are shimmer, but matte looks so much better on and it is perfect for giving my face a bit of contouring without looking like a scary person.

This bronzer first caught my eye on one of the latest A Model Recommends videos and she just made it look so perfect I knew it was the one for me, I got the same shade that she used in her video which is medium shade 3. If I had not watched her use it I would have bought shade 1 the lightest one as that's what I always do with foundations and concealers. So i did feel a bit crazy getting the shade 3 but these bronzers are very pale and this shade suits me perfectly, it is very subtle but build able.
I will do a demonstration video very soon.

I bought a Bourjois bronzer/kabuki brush just for this occasion but I've not had chance to test it yet so I'll let you know if the brush is any good or not very soon.

I apply this over my primer or foundation just to the back of the cheekbones giving my face some needed structure. I like to build up the colour most here. I then apply across the forehead and you can even sweep it down your nose and on the chin. Anywhere where the sun will naturally catch your skin first.
Contouring the face gives it the illusion of being slimmer and after applying this you can immediately see the difference it makes in your while appearance. This product will definitely be a make up bag staple from now on.
